During the meeting, the Federation highlighted the urgent need for rethe vitalisation of the Old General Bus Stand Pulwama. The area, they pointed out, has become a hotspot for illegal encroachments and drug abuse, causing public safety concerns and adversely affecting local businesses.

The delegation submitted a comprehensive set of demands including restoration of Old General Bus Stand for Sumo and Auto services to improve public access and boost local commerce, development of a Multi-Level Parking Complex and Commercial Spaces to enhance civic infrastructure, removal of illegal structures and encroachments to ensure safety and effective land utilisation, collaborative planning involving district administration, civil society and local stakeholders for sustainable development.

The Federation also raised the need for modernisation of Pulwama Sports Stadium, including installation of floodlights, repair of existing infrastructure and improved seating arrangements to promote youth engagement and deter drug abuse. Additionally, they proposed the introduction of an E-Bus service between Srinagar and Pulwama via New Khanda and Kakapora, offering an eco-friendly, safe and accessible transport solution for students, elderly citizens and women.

Satish Sharma assured the delegation that their concerns would be addressed in a time-bound manner. He reiterated the government’s commitment towards restoring Pulwama’s economic vibrancy, improving urban infrastructure and creating opportunities for the youth.

“The government is fully aware of Pulwama’s significance in the economic landscape of Jammu & Kashmir and is committed to taking necessary steps to ensure its inclusive development,” the Minister said.

A deputation from Tral also called on the Minister and highlighted issues related to Food and Supplies Department.

A delegation of sports coaches also called on the Minsiter and raised issue of NIS related to the Sports council.
