DC Ganderbal holds public outreach program at Safapora

GANDERBAL: District Administration Ganderbal today held a public outreach program at the conference hall of Manasbal Development Authority to address public grievances and review developmental progress in Block Safapora.

The program was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, and attended by DDC Member Safapora, ADDC, ASP, ACD, ACP, ACR,and officers of various departments. Senior citizens, youth, and the general public of the area actively participated in the event.

During the interactive session, locals and public representatives raised various issues concerning public welfare and development.

These included the beautification of Manasbal Lake, vaccination camps for livestock, improved healthcare facilities, deployment of adequate staff at Higher Secondary School Safapora, establishment of an additional receiving station at Kohistan Colony, provision of 24×7 power supply in metered areas, replacement of old water pipes, widening Safapora to Beehama road, legacy waste removal, repair of Lar Canal among other vital concerns.

The representatives also appreciated the visible developmental achievements in Block Safapora.

Responding to the issues raised, DC assured that all genuine public demands will be addressed with priority. He instructed the concerned departments to assess the viability of the proposed demands and ensure time-bound redressal of grievances.

Highlighting the importance of irrigation for the farming community, the DC directed the I&FC department to undertake desilting of irrigation canals and to initiate urgent repair works on the Lar Canal.

To address waste management concerns, BDO Safapora was directed to ensure door-to-door waste collection, as well as lifting and proper disposal of legacy waste from roadsides.

While interacting with the public, DC emphasised the administration’s commitment to developing Manasbal Lake as a premier tourist destination and urged locals to actively participate in maintaining its cleanliness and ecological health.

The DC also encouraged the youth to approach the Agriculture and allied departments to explore employment generation opportunities under schemes like HADP, noting that Block Safapora holds significant potential in these sectors.
