Chief Secretary visits shelling-hit border village; reviews relief measures

RAJOURI: Chief Secretary, Atal Dullo, today visited Kalsian panchayat in Tehsil Nowshera, located near the Line of Control (LoC), where some houses have been damaged due to recent cross-border shelling.

During his visit, the Chief Secretary interacted with the affected residents and assured them of all possible support from the administration. He expressed solidarity with the people in this hour of distress and emphasized the government’s commitment towards ensuring their safety and welfare.

Later, the Chief Secretary visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, where he met with the patients, including those injured in the shelling incident. He directed the Principal GMC to ensure the best possible medical treatment is provided to all the patients. He reviewed the overall functioning of the institution.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the availability and condition of bunkers in the border areas. He directed the concerned officers to ensure the construction of new bunkers wherever needed. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high-quality standards in all such works to safeguard civilian lives.

He also enquired about any challenges being faced by the district administration and assured necessary support from the higher authorities.

Commending the efforts of the district administration in managing the situation effectively, he lauded the swift and coordinated response to the recent shelling incidents.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, briefed the Chief Secretary on the district’s civil defence preparedness and detailed the status of all 12 essential services, including Warden Service, Rescue, Casualty, Firefighting, Transport, Survey Committee, Supply Services, Welfare, Headquarters, Communication, Disposal and Training Services was also reviewed.

The meeting was attended by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Tejinder Singh; SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar; ADC Kotranka, Dilmir; ADC Rajouri, Chander Prakash; ACR Mohammad Jahangir; ACP, Sheraz Chouhan; Deputy Director Employment, Mohammad Nawaz; ACD, Auqil Naveed and other senior district and sectoral officers.
