Death is a universal truth, an inevitable journey every living soul must undertake. It reminds us to cherish the present, nurture our relationships, and live our life with compassion and humility. While death brings immense grief and loss, it also leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those left behind.

The emptiness left by a loved one often feels overwhelming, as though a part of the soul has been torn away. In the midst of this melancholy, memories act as a bridge between the past and the present, offering both solace and sorrow. The absence of a loved one reshapes your entire world, leaving behind a silence where their presence once resonated. Over time, this silence grows deeper, shaping how we remember, mourn and ultimately learn to live with our loss.

It has been two years since I lost my grandmother, a treasure of love, wisdom and guidance. She was more than a grandmother, she was my guardian, mentor, and a profound source of inspiration.  Despite her hardships she remained cheerful and content.  My mother gave me life, but it was my grandmother who took the arduous task of nurturing me and my siblings. In turbulent times she stood as a pillar of strength for our family.

My grandmother embodied kindness and grace. Sitting in her company was a blessing, as her stories from her life experiences were rich with lessons and wisdom. Her words continue to guide me on my journey through life. She faced adversity with resilience including the early loss of her husband but she refused to let these challenges define her. What defined her was her unwavering strength to rise above life’s toughest moments.

She was a woman of action and faith. Whether engaged in sewing or tending to her kitchen garden, she was always active. A devout believer, she spent much of her time with a rosary in hand, uttering the name of Allah. In her younger days, she taught the Quran to children at the local Darzgah, earning their respect and love. Many people drawn by her wisdom and warmth visited her to seek blessings.

Today, although she is no longer physically with me, her presence is deeply felt in every aspect of my life.  The love and affection she showered upon me remain a source of strength. I will continue to cherish her memories and uphold her teaching. I sincerely pray to Almighty Allah to bless her soul with eternal peace and grant her the highest lace in paradise. Ameen
