KU joins hands with Yok Solutions for eco-friendly campus

Srinagar: To promote environmental sustainability and set new standards in campus management, the University of Kashmir (KU) has partnered with Delhi-based Yok Solutions Pvt. Ltd. to launch a holistic Green Campus Initiative.

The MoU was signed between the two institutions, marking an important step towards implementing scientific and sustainable waste management practices across the campus. The initiative aims to achieve zero waste to landfill by managing wet, dry, and green waste effectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan said, “The Green Campus Initiative is a long-term commitment to embedding sustainability into the core values of our institution.”

She further said that this collaboration reflects the varsity’s dedication to setting an exemplary model of environmental responsibility in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal said, “Through this initiative, we aim to promote eco-friendly practices, conserve resources, and nurture biodiversity while inspiring other institutions to follow suit.”

Director, Yok Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Mounica Kavya Podilapu, while expressing enthusiasm, said, “We are proud to partner with the University of Kashmir on this ambitious initiative and our expertise in decentralized waste management will help set up a model that can be replicated by other institutions.”

Under the MoU, Yok Solutions Pvt. Ltd. will act as the implementing partner for the project. Activities under the initiative include composting biodegradable waste, recycling, biomass processing, awareness campaigns, green audits, and capacity-building events.

The project will be implemented in phases and overseen by a joint steering committee comprising officials from both the University and Yok Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

The MoU was officially signed by Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal and Director Yok Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Mounica Kavya Podilapu, in presence of Prof. Nilofer Khan, VC KU, and other senior KU officers including Altaf Ahmad, Joint Registrar KU and Dr Ashfaq Zarri, Special Secretary to VC KU.
