Secretary Health visits Baltal, assesses Medical Preparedness for SAJY 2025

BALTAL (SONAMARG): In order to take a first-hand appraisal of the health facilities being put in place for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, today visited Base Camp Hospital Baltal and Primary Health Centre Sonamarg.

Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Jahangeer Bakhshi, accompanied the Secretary during the visit.

At the 100-bedded Base Camp Hospital in Baltal, the Secretary inspected critical medical facilities including Intensive Care Unit, trauma care section and oxygen generation plant, besides accommodation infrastructure for the staff. He also visited PHC Sonamarg and inspected various sections of the health facility.

The Secretary emphasized the need for complete readiness of all medical services well before the commencement of the pilgrimage season.

He issued clear directives to all medical officers and yatra staff, stressing the importance of maintaining 24/7 emergency services, establishing efficient patient referral systems and ensuring adequate stock of essential medicines. Special emphasis was placed on coordination between the Base Camp Hospital, PHC Sonamarg and all medical teams along the yatra route.

Dr. Abid reiterated the administration’s focus on delivering prompt, efficient, and compassionate healthcare services throughout the pilgrimage period.
