Emphasizing the party’s dedication to upholding the rights and dignity of the working class, Dr. Farooq stated that the government led by Omar Abdullah is committed to addressing the concerns of contractual employees. These concerns include lower wages, lack of benefits, job insecurity, and the potential for exploitation. Dr. Farooq acknowledged the hard work of workers in both the organized and unorganized sectors.

He emphasized the importance of recognizing the indigenous struggles of our own people at Zaldagar and the silk factory, which are often overlooked on International Labour Day.

“The history of political struggle in Jammu & Kashmir has been shaped by the sacrifices of the working classes, particularly during the Zaldagar and Silk factory agitations. It is crucial for us as a community to remember the sacrifices made by these martyrs. The NC remains dedicated to the welfare of all working classes, as outlined in the Naya Kashmir manifesto. We stand in solidarity with various groups of workers, including daily wagers, seasonal laborers, ASHA’s under NHM, Anganwadi workers, Mid-Day Meal workers, CPWs, MGNREGA employees, contractual workers, construction workers, and artisans.Omar Abdullah govt is resolutely working towards resolving their genuine concerns,” he said adding, “the NC has always supported small traders, daily wagers, fixed income groups, and workers from both organized and unorganized sectors. We will continue to advocate for their rights and address their concerns at every opportunity. The working classes are not alone in their struggle – the NC stands with them and will continue to champion their cause.”
