SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in parts of Srinagar and Kupwara districts to facilitate crucial infrastructure works.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the 33KV Khanda Tap line will be shut down to allow conductor stringing under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) from BK Pora to Khanda Tap. As a result, the 33/11KV Receiving Station at Khanda will remain non-operational, affecting power supply to Chattergam, Magrapora, Suthsoo, Gowherpora, and adjoining areas. The outage is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM on April 21 and 23, 2025.

In a similar development, to facilitate widening and strengthening works on the two-lane National Highway from Rafiabad to Tangdhar being executed by BEACON authorities, shutdowns will be observed on the 33KV Kupwara Hot, Kupwara Old, and MES lines. This will result in the 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Tikker, Galizoo, Drugmulla, Khumriyal, Krusen, Diver, Sogam, and Machil remaining off. Consequently, power supply to Kupwara town, Gulgam, Pazipora, Drugmulla, Nagri, Arampora, the entire Lolab Valley, Machil, and surrounding areas will be affected on April 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM.

KPDCL has urged residents in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements and cooperate during the scheduled outages.
