SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in various parts of Kashmir on April 21 and April 23 to facilitate essential repair, maintenance, and cable interchange works.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the shutdown is necessary to carry out the interchange of cable between the 33 KV Airforce line and the 33 KV Silk Factory line on the 33 KV Gantry at the Rawalpora Grid Station. As a result, the 33 KV Airforce line, Silk Factory line, and Rangreth line will remain non-functional. Consequently, the 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at Peerbagh, Humhama, Wanbal, and Rangreth will be shut down, affecting power supply to these areas and their adjoining localities from 11:00 AM to 04:00 PM on April 23, 2025.

Additionally, in connection with repair and maintenance work within the Air Force Camp being undertaken by the AE E/M Awantipora Airport, the 33 KV Awantipora-Naroo line will be shut down. This will result in the shutdown of 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at Naroo and LIS Koil-II & III, affecting power supply to Ratnipora, Lajoora, Puchal, Naroo, and adjoining areas from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM on April 21, 2025.

The same day, another shutdown of the 33 KV Awantipora-Airport line will also be observed, impacting the 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at the Airport Station and LIS Koil-I. As a result, power supply to the Air Force and LIS Koil-I will be affected from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM on April 21, 2025.

Furthermore, for the replacement and repair of the 1500 mm nominal diameter rising main pipe laid underground at Ladoora-Rohama, the 33 KV Amargarh SIDCO line will also be shut down. This will lead to a shutdown of 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at Rohama and Chakloo, disrupting power supply to Rohama, Chakloo, and surrounding areas from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM on April 21, 2025.

KPDCL has appealed to the public to bear with the inconvenience, stating that the scheduled shutdowns are vital to ensure a reliable and improved power supply in the region.
