The event’s highlight was the participation of Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar, a globally acclaimed laparoscopic oncosurgeon from Galaxy Hospital, Pune. Dr. Puntambekar captivated attendees with live demonstrations of highly complex procedures, including Laparoscopic Whipple’s Procedure, Laparoscopic Low Anterior Resection (Lap LAR) for Carcinoma Rectum, and Laparoscopic Wertheim’s Hysterectomy for Carcinoma Endometrium. His precision and mastery set new standards in surgical practice and education.

The inaugural ceremony was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal and Dean, GMC Srinagar. Dr. Puntambekar was the Guest of Honour, while Prof. Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal GMC Anantnag, and Prof. Dr. Fazl-ul-Qadir Parray, Principal SKIMS Medical College, attended as special guests, marking their presence at this academic milestone.

A special note of appreciation was extended to Prof. (Dr.) Iqbal Saleem Mir, Head of the Department of Surgery and Organising Chairman, whose leadership and unwavering commitment played a pivotal role in orchestrating the workshop. His dedication to fostering academic excellence and surgical innovation continues to leave a lasting impact on the medical fraternity in the region.

The workshop was accredited with four CME credit hours and reaffirmed GMC Srinagar’s position as a leading institution in advancing clinical skills and academic engagement in the field of surgery.
