Bandipora: Police in Bandipora have arrested a youth for allegedly glorifying the chief of the banned Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, and other separatist leaders on social media.
The accused, identified as Sajad Naseer Bhat alias Sahil, son of Naseer Ahmad Bhat from Naidkhai Sumbal, was apprehended during routine cyber surveillance and patrolling.
According to police, “he had deliberately uploaded photos of Malik and others to incite unrest and promote extremist ideologies”.
A case under FIR No. 65/2025, invoking Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66 of the IT Act, has been registered at Police Station Sumbal, and further investigation is underway.
Lawyer among 3 arrested in Greater Kailash gold heist
Jammu, Apr 3: Police have arrested three accused including a lawyer– the “mastermind”, involved in a sensational daylight robbery at a jeweller’s shop in Greater Kailash in Jammu on February 1, this year.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu, Joginder Singh, in a presser this afternoon stated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) successfully solved the case, bringing the culprits to justice, with its focused, professional and dedicated efforts which led to the identification and arrest of the criminals behind this highly planned crime.
“One of the main conspirator Advocate Rahul Sharma, son of Shashi Sharma, resident of Lower Kanal, near Grameen Bank, Bishnah, the main kingpin of the crime, has been arrested alongwith two others Sunil Sharma and Tushar Kumar, who executed the plan and committed the robbery,” SSP said.
The preliminary questioning revealed a shocking and disgraceful inspiration behind the robbery from a similar kind of gold robbery at Delhi, Samaypur Badli in the year 2023, he stated.
The incident occurred on February 1, during broad daylight, when two armed robbers barged into a jewellery shop — Anand Jewelers. At the time, the woman shop owner was present inside. The assailants, wielding a deadly Toka blade, placed it against her throat, and looted gold, cash, and a mobile phone. The criminals then fled the scene, leaving the victim traumatized and the entire area in panic.
A case was registered at the Police Station Gangyal.
