ACB registers case against former Sarpanch, ex-BDC Chairman on corruption charges

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday said to have registered a case against former Sarpanch Dhanore Gorsian, Rajouri and former BDC Chairman, Block Rajouri on corruption charges.

As per a statement issued here today, a spokesman said that Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau registered a case against Darbar Chowdhary, former Sarpanch Dhanore Gorsian and former BDC Chairman, Block Rajouri S/o Late Sh. Gulzar Ali R/o Dhanore Gorsian Rajouri, vide FIR no. 01/2025 U/S 13(1)(b) r/w section 13(2) Prevention of Corruption  Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).

“The instant case was registered on the outcome of a secret verification conducted by ACB Rajouri into the allegations of accumulation of assets disproportionate to known source of income by above named accused person. The verification conducted had revealed that the above named public servant remained elected Sarpanch of panchayat Dhanore Gorsian, Rajouri in the year 2011 and also remained elected Block Development Chairman of Block Rajouri for the years 2019-2023,” the statement reads.

“During this period, he has accumulated various movable and immovable assets worth crores in his name as well as disguised in the name of his family members, which include multiple well-furnished houses, multiple plots of land, shops, luxurious vehicles and other assets.”

In this way, the above named public servant namely Darbar Chowdhary S/o Late Gulzar Ali R/o Dhanore Gorsian, Rajouri, former Sarpanch Dhanore Gorsian and former Block Development Chairman, Block Rajouri has enriched himself illicitly by indulging in corrupt practices and has acquired huge assets which are prima facie disproportionate to his known source of income, the statement added.

“Anti Corruption Bureau after registration of case under relevant sections of law, also conducted simultaneous searches with the help of local police in presence of Magistrates/Independent Witnesses at the premises of above named accused person,” the spokesman said, adding that detailed and in-depth scrutiny of the seized record will be carried out during further course of investigation.
