Awantipora: In a swift action Police Station Tral has arrested Two individuals on the complaint of one Mohd Altaf Ganai S/O Mohd Ramzan Ganai a resident of Nageenpora Tral who are fraudulently posing as Law enforcement officers to extort money from the general public.

The Suspects namely Bashir Ahmad Sheikh S/O Mohd Jamal Sheikh R/O Saimooh and Mohd Shafi Dar S/O Gh Nabi Dar R/O Dadsora were targeting unsuspecting citizens,falsely claiming to have police authority and demanding money under various pretexts, reads a statement issued to GNS.

Their activities came to light after multiple complaints were received from victims who had been coerced into paying sums of money out of fear of legal consequences.

on this complaint Tral police registered a case FIR No.31 of 2025 under relavent laws and arrested the involved accused persons.

Both individuals are currently in custody and face multiple charges.

Moreover we urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately. Legitimate officers never demand money from the public in any circumstances.

The police encourages the public to verify of any individual claiming to be a police officer and to report suspicious behaviour to the nearest Police Station or through the official helpline.(GNS)
