Documentary on cerebral palsy by KU’s EMRC wins National level award

Srinagar: The University of Kashmir’s (KU’s) Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) has brought home a prestigious accolade as its documentary, ‘Parenting Special Needs Children: Cerebral Palsy,’ was awarded best programme in the Teacher Education category at the All-India Children’s Educational e-content Competition (AICEeCC) 2024-25.

The three-day national-level competition, organized by the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) and NCERT, was held in Meghalaya from March 26-28.

The 20-minute documentary, directed and edited by Inam-ul-Rehman from EMRC KU, explores the challenges faced by parents raising children with cerebral palsy, offering insights into their daily struggles and resilience.

Competing against 670 entries from across the country, the film stood out for its impactful storytelling and educational value. The film fetched a cash prize, a trophy, and a certificate.

Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, congratulated the team on this achievement and said, “This award reflects the varsity’s dedication to utilising various media platforms for social impact. It is inspiring to see our faculty and staff members creating educational content that raises awareness about crucial issues like cerebral palsy.”

Director EMRC KU, Dr. Salima Jan, expressed gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the centre’s dedication to producing impactful educational content and said that the documentary was a step towards greater awareness and support for children with special needs.
