Div Com reviews arrangements for opening of Asia’s largest tulip garden

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today convened a meeting to review the arrangement for the opening of Asia’s largest Tulip Garden and to ensure a pleasant experience for visitors during Tulip Festival season.

Situated at the foothills of Zabarwan, the Tulip Garden is the most favourite destination of tourists in the month of April and shall be opened to the public in the last week of March as the 17.5 lakh tulip bulbs have started to bloom gradually.

Addressing the meeting in this regard, Div Com directed a massive publicity campaign for the opening of the famous Tulip Garden, time slot and online booking of tickets by the visitors for which link will be available at the official website of the floriculture department.

Meanwhile, he urged the floriculture department to keep the garden open from 6:00 AM in the morning to 8:00 PM in the evening.

Div Com directed SMC officials to conduct regular sanitation drives to keep the garden and surroundings clean from littering besides instructing for the installation of an adequate number of dustbins in the garden.

He also directed SMC to make the existing toilet block functional and ensure the availability of Mobile Toilet Vehicles outside the garden.

Div Com emphasised for efficient management of parking spaces at the Botanical Garden to accommodate a maximum number of vehicles and instructed SSP Traffic for smooth traffic management particularly during holidays & Sundays when the footfall of tourists & local visitors increases enormously.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi ud Din Bhat; Director Floriculture, Shakeel ul Rehman; SSP Traffic Srinagar, Muzaffar Shah; Joint Commissioner SMC, besides other officers of the floriculture department.
