Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today said there is no threat of floods in Kashmir valley, and that the authorities are monitoring the situation on an hourly basis. He also said that the relentless downpour has almost compensated for the deficiency in precipitation.
Speaking to media here, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir expressed contentment over ongoing rains in Kashmir valley, saying people were craving for precipitation as the decrease of water level in rivers and springs had left orchards and agricultural land dry.
“It is great that it has been raining for the last few days in Kashmir valley, which almost compensated the deficit. People were praying for it and it happened in the holy month of Ramzan,” he said.
He said there is no threat of floods and authorities are monitoring situation with high alertness.
“The administration is monitoring all points on an hourly basis and there is no need to worry. As of now, there is no threat of floods, and the situation is under control. All points are being checked on an hourly basis,” he said.
