Srinagar: The Meteorological department Sunday forecast moderate to heavy snowfall in higher reaches of north and central Kashmir on March 3.

An official of Meteorological Centre Srinagar predicted light rains and snow at isolated places towards late night in Jammu and Kashmir today.

On March 3, there is a possibility of light to moderate rains and snow over higher reaches at most places, while few higher reaches of north and central Kashmir may receive moderate to heavy snowfall, the official said.

He however said that the weather conditions will remain dry likely from March 4-9.

From March 10-12, fresh spells of rain and snow are expected, he added.

The official advised tourists, travelers and transporters to follow advisories being issued from administration and traffic departments, and avoid avalanche prone areas.
