Beerwah, February 28: In a remarkable display of dedication and resilience, the medical team at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Beerwah successfully administered life-saving chemotherapy to a young patient suffering from Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML), despite challenging weather conditions.

Led by Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr. Arshad, the hospital staff ensured that the critical treatment was provided on time. The patient, who required urgent medical intervention, was first evaluated by the hospital’s physician. After consulting with specialists from a tertiary care hospital, the medical team received clearance to proceed with chemotherapy at the SDH level.

Despite heavy snowfall that had disrupted normal life in the region, the hospital’s dedicated team acted swiftly, adhering to strict medical protocols to administer the chemotherapy safely. The timely intervention not only ensured the patient’s well-being but also highlighted the increasing capacity of peripheral healthcare centers to handle complex medical procedures.

Expressing their gratitude, the patient’s family thanked BMO Dr. Arshad and the entire medical team for their unwavering commitment to saving lives, especially under such difficult conditions. Their efforts provided much-needed relief to the family, who had been deeply concerned about the impact of the adverse weather on their child’s treatment.

This achievement was made possible through the consistent guidance and support of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Budgam, who has been instrumental in strengthening healthcare services in the district. Additionally, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Jahangeer Bakhshi, has played a key role in reinforcing the peripheral health system, focusing on improved infrastructure, accessibility, and community engagement in healthcare initiatives.

The leadership of Commissioner Secretary Health, Dr. Abid Rashid, has further contributed to the transformation of healthcare services in Jammu and Kashmir. His efforts in shaping policies and implementing targeted programs have significantly enhanced healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

The successful administration of chemotherapy at SDH Beerwah stands as a testament to the evolving healthcare landscape in Kashmir, demonstrating the commitment of healthcare professionals to providing quality medical care, regardless of the challenges posed by nature.
