Javed Rana inaugurates Water Supply Schemes in Mendhar

POONCH: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, today reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing safe drinking water to every household of the Union Territory.

The Minister was addressing the gathering after inaugurating two Water Supply Schemes (WSSs) at Kasab and Malikpur, Mendhar during his extensive visit to the district. These WSSs have been completed with a cost of Rs 3.25 crore and Rs 5.45 crore respectively, as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

Rana said that the government is committed to ensuring that every individual has access to safe drinking water and today’s inauguration of WSSs is a step towards that direction. “Water security ensures a strong future and concrete measures are being taken to improve water supply and better management of water resources in uncovered areas, which is crucial to address water supply issues,” maintained the Minister.

The Minister said that the WSS Kasab will benefit a population of 1,560, with the installation of 205 new connections while the WSS Malikpur will serve a population of 2,075, souls with the installation of 150 new connections.

He asked the locals to remember that our rights to this infrastructure come with our collective responsibility as the community to protect and preserve it so that it can serve us better and for longer.

The locals expressed gratitude to the Minister for making the schemes operational thereby fulfilling their long pending demand.
