Fresh snowfall in higher reaches of Kashmir, rains in Srinagar

Srinagar: The Meteorological Department Wednesday forecast light to moderate rains and snow over both Jammu and Kashmir divisions till February 28.

An official said that in the past 24 hours, the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir received light to moderate rain & snow, while heavy snowfall occurred over isolated higher reaches.

He said the weather will remain generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snow at most places with heavy rain and snow at isolated places in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions till February 28.

From March 1-2, the weather conditions will likely remain generally cloudy with light rain and snow at isolated to scattered places. On March 3, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snow at many places of Jammu and Kashmir.

From March 4-6, the weather will remain generally dry, the official said.

The official also maintained that there will be a significant fall in day temperatures in coming days.

Gondola services suspended at Kongdoori, Affarwat

The Gondola services have been suspended at Kongdoori and Affarwat due to inclement weather conditions.

An official was quoted by news agency KNO as saying that the decision was taken for the safety of tourists, with authorities assuring that a full refund would be provided to “ticket holders as per the established norms.”

Gulmarg Gondola remains a key attraction for tourists visiting the skiing resort.
