Srinagar: A woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle in the Tengan Bypass area of Srinagar on Monday evening, officials said.

Quoting an official, news agency KNO reported that Afiya Umar, a resident of Lasjan Srinagar, was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Tengan Bypass. The official said that the victim was shifted to hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated.

In a separate accident, a JCB (excavator) operator from Qazigund lost his life after his vehicle overturned at Banderpora area of central Kashmir Budgam district on Monday.

Quoting officials, news agency JKNS reported that a JCB overturned in Budgam, leaving its operator Shahnawaz Ahmad Shan, son of Bashir Ahmad Shan, a resident of Nipora, Qazigund, critically injured. He was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Police have registered a case for investigations.
