IGP Kashmir inaugurates training prog on “investigation of UAPA cases”

Srinagar: The IGP Kashmir inaugurated a three-day training program on the “Investigation of UAPA Cases,” in collaboration with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), at the Police Control Room Kashmir here Monday.

According to a police press release, the initiative is designed for investigating officers to adopt the latest techniques, standard practices, and investigative skills to expedite and enhance the quality of investigations in UAPA cases.

Speaking on the occasion, IGP emphasised the significance of the training, briefing the officers on key aspects of the program. He highlighted the importance of effectively utilising the UAPA to address security challenges while improving investigative skills to increase efficiency.

IGP also urged the officers to adhere to established procedures and deepen their understanding of the UAPA in order to conduct investigations in a logical and systematic manner. He stressed the need for meticulous case management, with a focus on the admissibility of evidence and the development of clear action plans.

He also underscored the importance of maintaining high standards in documentation, including writing comprehensive case diaries, preparing memos, and drafting well-structured charge sheets to secure convictions; and encouraged the officers to master the collection of both digital and physical evidence, ensuring a robust foundation for each case.

The IGP also stressed that IOs must improve their drafting skills for preparing FIRs, memos, and charge sheets to enhance the quality of investigation. He also urged the investigating officers to improve the disposal rate of cases under investigation and ensure follow-up in court to secure convictions.
