FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Baramulla: A devastating fire broke out in Binner Rafiabad village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district late on Tuesday night, claiming the life of a 35-year-old specially-abled youth and reducing a residential house to ashes.

The fire erupted in the home of Ghulam Mohammad Siraj, son of Ghulam Ahmad Siraj, engulfing the entire structure within minutes. Despite desperate efforts by locals and police to contain the blaze, the house was completely destroyed before the fire brigade could arrive.

Tragically, Ghulam Mohammad’s son, Zubair Ahmad Siraj, who was physically challenged, was trapped inside. Attempts to rescue him proved futile, and by the time he was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The fire also destroyed household belongings worth lakhs of rupees. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
