Deputy CM highlights visionary role of Guru Ravi Dass in societal renaissance

JAMMU: Highlighting the visionary contribution of Shree Guru Ravi Dass ji in socio-economic transformation, Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today said that the need of the time is to follow his teachings for creating an egalitarian and humane world to live in.

The deputy Chief minister was speaking at a function organised in connection with the celebration of the 648th Prakash Utsav of Shree Guru Ravi Dass ji at Guru Ravi Dass Sabha Krishna Nagar, here today.

The deputy Chief minister said that in present times, when materialistic pursuits have played havoc on the fabric of our society, there is a dire need to follow the teachings of our Saints and Seers to live a contended and Spiritual life. “We need to follow the teachings of our saints and sufis to make our lives more spiritual which would lead to a contended and blissful life,” he added.

“The people of the subcontinent are aware of the contribution of Guru Ravi Dass ji in ensuring a society based on humane values and we need to propagate theses for the betterment of mankind,” stated the deputy Chief minister adding that this will form the basis of making our world more inclusive.

The deputy Chief minister also appealed the youth to follow the spiritual teachings of great saints and not get carried away by the tendencies detrimental to their future and health. He expressed concern over mounting substance abuse while assuring strict measures to deal with this social evil.

Earlier, the deputy Chief minister paid obeisance at the Ashram and prayed for peace and prosperity of the country and Jammu and Kashmir in particular. He also interacted with the devotees.

The Management of All Jammu and Kashmir Shree Guru Ravi Dass Sabha also presented a memorandum to the deputy Chief minister projecting several issues like Proper implementation of Reservation for SC/STs in Employment, SC/ST Atrocities Act and other related demands.

Earlier, a deputation of former BDCs, Sarpanchs and Panchs called on the deputy Chief minister and projected several developmental issues of their respective areas seeking immediate redressal.

The deputy Chief minister assured the deputation to look into their issues and concerns for their early redressal.
