Police recovers huge quantity of contraband substance in Pulwama, 1 arrested

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police in Pulwama recovered a huge quantity of contraband substance by arresting an accused person.

Acting on specific information received through reliable sources, a police party of Police Post Newa conducted a successful operation in Sheikh Mohalla, Newa, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of contraband substances.  During the operation, a police team raided the residence of Mehraj Din Sheikh son of Ali Mohammad Sheikh resident of Newa and recovered two nylon sacks containing 9.75Kgs of charas powder-like substance, besides arrested the accused person.

Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 22/25 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in the district. The public is encouraged to support the police by reporting any information regarding the illicit trade of narcotics. Together, we can work towards a drug-free society.
