Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted raids in two districts of Kashmir valley in connection with alleged irregularities in the selection process of firemen in Fire & Emergency Services.
As per news agency KDC, the ACB officials conducted the first raid at the residence of a retired KAS officer at Batengoo in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official said the raid led by DySP rank officer, was carried out in connection with FIR No. 01-2025 registered at the Police Station Central Kashmir.
The case involves irregularities committed in the selection process of Fireman/Fireman Drivers in the Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) Department.
The second raid, as per sources, was conducted at the Aloochi Bagh area of Srinagar. The raid is also linked to the same case.
The ACB is probing several individuals, including members of the Departmental Recruitment Board, the Technical Committee, officers and officials of the F&ES Department, and others involved in the recruitment process.
Probe ordered into discrepancies in police constable examination
The J&K Service Selection Recruitment Board (JKSSRB) has ordered an inquiry to probe the allegations levelled against the Board over the “discrepancies” in the JKP Constable (Telecommunication) examination, the result of which was declared recently.
Chairperson JKSSB Indu Kanwal Chib said the Board has ordered an inquiry to probe the allegations.
“The members have been given the task and we have asked them to look into the matter very intricately. We have given a certain amount of time to them to inquire about the matter,” Chib said.
Pertinently, the aspirants of the JKP Constable (Telecommunication and Photography) exams have expressed serious concerns while alleging irregularities and questioned the transparency of the selection process done by the JKSSB.
Following the complaints of the aspirants, PDP leader Iltija Mufti said that JKSSB continues “jeopardizing the future of J&K’s youth.”
“Massive discrepancies in the JKP Telecommunications exam wherein toppers fared poorly in the previously held constable exams. The government that rose to power by making lofty promises has conveniently washed its hands of any accountability,” she wrote on her X handle.
In the wake of this, the National Conference spokesman, Imran Nabi Dar hit back at the PDP leader and accused her of stoking “unnecessary” controversies “by peddling half-baked statements”.
“Before criticising the government, her party should understand the context. Rather than creating unnecessary controversies, it would have been better if she had addressed this matter to the LG before blurting out a half-baked statement to the media,” he said.
Dar said that the PDP was “mother of all scams” during their tenure with the BJP.
