Armed Forces Veterans Day organised at JAK LI Regt Centre

Srinagar, Jan 14: Indian Armed Forces Veterans Day is celebrated every year on Jan 14th to commemorate the superannuation of First Commander-in-Chief of Indian Armed Forces, Field Marshal KM Cariappa.

The day celebrates the indomitable spirit and service of soldiers who had served the Nation with pride.

The Armed Forces Veterans Day was organised under the aegis of Chinar Corps at Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Srinagar on 14 Jan 2025. Maj Gen Dhananjay Joshi, VSM, GOC V Force along with Brig Ved Beniwal, Comdt, JAK LI Regt Centre and other senior officials, Veterans, Veer Matas, Veer Naris and Gallantry awardees attend the same. Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister addressed Veterans & Veer Matas/Naris through Video Conferencing from Akhnoor.

The event witnessed considerable attendance despite inclement weather conditions in the Kashmir Valley, displaying the everlasting grit and determination of a soldier. A total of 143 x Veterans, 40 x Veer Matas/Veer Naris and 02 x Wards of War heroes/Veterans attended the same.

The event was aimed to celebrate their service to the Nation. The opportunity was also leveraged to provide first-hand information on various welfare schemes & redressal of problems being faced by the Veterans and Veer Naris. The attendees were informed about various welfare projects being undertaken by the Central and State Governments. In order to felicitate instant mitigation; various stalls were established by ECHS, AWPO, DZR(NC), DPDO, Medical Camp, Zila Sainik Welfare Board, JAK LI Records & Banks. 

Maj Gen Dhananjay Joshi, VSM, GOC V Force felicitated the Veterans, Veer Matas and Veer Naris. He expressed his gratitude towards the war heroes, who had made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and assured the attendees of continuous assistance from the Army.
