Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers in separate incidents in Pulwama, Sopore, Srinagar and Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, police said in an official handout Sunday.

It said at Muchpona Pulwama, one Ishfaq Majeed Wani, son of Abdul Majeed Wani of Pulwama was arrested and 18.70 grams of heroin were recovered from his possession.

In Sopore, at Laiser Crossing, police intercepted a vehicle (JK05M-4854) driven by Muneeb Jabar Dar, son of Abdul Jabar Dar of Muqam Shaheedmir Bomai Sopore. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered 1.028 kilograms of a substance resembling cannabis. Dar was arrested on the spot and the vehicle seized.

In Srinagar, at Tengpora near Flood Channel two persons — Love Kumar and Vipin Kumar, both residents of Delhi – were arrested and a substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from their possession.

In Furrah Kulgam, one Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh alias ‘Raff dozer, son of Habibullah Sheikh of Furrah was arrested and 248 grams of cannabis-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession.

Near Govt Middle School Gandhwani, DH Pora, one Waseem Ahmad Bhat, son of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat of Gandhwani DH Pora was arrested and 1235 grams of grinded cannabis-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, police said.
