RAMBAN: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, MoS, PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, today convened a public darbar and had exclusive interactive sessions with individuals and public delegations.

Present in the public outreach programme were senior Central government officers including NHAI besides UT government officers led by  Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary.

Dr Jitendra Singh, during his second such public durbar at Ramban, ensured the on-the-spot redressal of several issues raised by the public. He issued instructions to the officers of the concerned department for prompt redressal of remaining issues and concerns of the public.

Dr Jitendra Singh said the government has taken several path-breaking measures in the last decade to scale up infrastructure development in Ramban district. The administration focussed on the resumption of stalled projects besides initiating ambitious projects to boost connectivity in the district.

Dr Jitendra Singh stated that Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee Tunnel connecting Ramban with Udhampur is one such example of boosting connectivity in the region. He said the area is also now replete with a string of other tunnels enhancing ease of travel for the commuters.

The Union Minister said that the government is focusing on bringing state-of-the-art facilities to rural areas of the country under the auspices of Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur programme. Besides, the grievance redressal mechanism has been streamlined to facilitate the people with faster public service delivery.

Highlighting the role of public representatives in governance, he said members of the PRIs have been instrumental in taking services to the grassroots and alleviating public sufferings. He said together with the district administration, these representatives have formed an essential part of the team to serve the common citizens in the last 10 years.

Dr Jitendra Singh expressed hope that the team will get strengthened with the participation of newly elected MLAs to better serve the people and improve their living standards to match the constituents of the national mainstream.
