Property attached under NDPS Act in Shopian

Srinagar: Police in Shopian have attached a double-storey residential house worth ₹14,76,579 and cash of ₹6 lakh belonging to a drug peddler, police said in an official handout Thursday.

Identified as Farooq Ahmad Koka, son of Ghulam Mohammad Koka, resident of Melhura Zainapora, police said action against him was taken under section 68-E read with 68-F(1) of  Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The property attachment and the seizure of cash is linked to FIR No. 36/2024 of Police Station Zainapora and was executed in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols.

Police said the property was identified as “acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner.”
