Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession, police informed in an official handout Thursday.
It said one Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh, son of Abdul Razak Sheikh of Mazhama Magam, was arrested following a raid on his residential house, which yielded 50 bottles of Codeine Phosphate.
At Sail Crossing in Awantipora, one Kifayat Shafiq, son of Shafiq Ahmad Bhat of Sail Awantipora, was arrested after 3.5 kgs of grinded cannabis was recovered from his possession.
At Batapora Shopian, Mohammad Ishaq Khanday alias Hie Khanday, son of Ghulam Qadir Khanday of Khanday Mohallah Bonbazar Shopian, was arrested and 62 grams of cannabis recovered from his possession, police said, adding cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations for further investigations.
