MP Mian Altaf presides over function to celebrate PMGSY Foundation Day in Kulgam

KULGAM: Member of Parliament (MP), Anantnag Rajouri parliamentary constituency Mian Altaf Ahmad today visited District Kulgam and presided over a function held to celebrate PMGSY Foundation Day at new conference hall of mini-secretariat Kulgam.

Addressing the gathering, MP said that Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) has been a transformative scheme through which road connectivity has been built to even the remotest areas of the country, thereby contributing significantly in the rural road network of the nation.

He assured the people of taking up their land compensation issue at an appropriate forum. He appealed to them to take care of roads and other government assets and desist from making road encroachments.

The Deputy Commissioner on the occasion said that Kulgam has a good road network and PMGSY has played a vital role in constructing roads in rural and difficult terrains.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Engineer PMGSY, Tanveer Mir applauded the workers, contractors and engineers and staff who are making it possible to develop these roads.

Later, the MP inaugurated a newly upgraded road of TO1 Chawalgam to DB Shopian via Nillow under PMGSY III.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam Athar Amir Khan, Chief Engineer PMGSY, Executive Engineer PPMGSY, AEE PMGSY and others were present at the inauguration ceremony.
