Amar Singh College organises special extension lecture on Payment Systems in India

Srinagar: Amar Singh College Cluster University Srinagar, hosted a special extension lecture titled “Payment and Settlement Systems in India”. 

The lecture was delivered by Prof. Nisar Ahmad Khan, former Head of the Department of Economics and former Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Aligarh Muslim University.

The event witnessed the participation of the Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar, Controller, and Deans of various faculties from Cluster University Srinagar, along with a large number of students and faculty members from Amar Singh College.

Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Hakak, Principal of Amar Singh College, delivered the welcome address. He highlighted the importance of guiding students towards innovative knowledge and research opportunities beyond the confines of traditional classroom instruction to better prepare them for future challenges. He reaffirmed Amar Singh College’s commitment to maintaining academic excellence in the years ahead.

In his presidential remarks, Mohd Mubeen, Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Srinagar, emphasized the importance of conducting regular extension lectures to enhance students’ domain knowledge. He called on stakeholders to actively promote innovation and skill-based education within higher education institutions. The Vice-Chancellor also announced the establishment of a dedicated cell at Cluster University to facilitate ongoing extension lectures across various disciplines.

Prof. Nisar Ahmad Khan, in his special lecture, provided a comprehensive analysis of both the historical and contemporary payment systems in India. He highlighted the transformative impact of digital payments on banking and marketing practices, showcasing their benefits for individuals across diverse sectors of society. He also stressed the importance of raising awareness about the risks associated with digital payments and advocated for enhanced regulatory frameworks to ensure secure digital transactions. Furthermore, Prof. Nisar called for the removal of barriers impeding the progress of digital literacy in India.

The lecture concluded with a lively interactive session, where students and faculty engaged in thought-provoking discussions. The event was moderated by Basharat Shameem, Assistant Professor in English, while the formal Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Zubair Nazeer, Assistant Professor in Public Administration.
