Drug peddler held in Budgam

Srinagar: Police have arrested seven drug peddlers in Awantipora, Baramulla, Kulgam and Kupwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.

He said a vehicle (JK05M-4630) was seized and two persons — Arif Ahmad, son of Sonaullah War, and Naseer Ahmad War, son of Mohammad Maqbool War, both residents of Warpora Sopore – travelling in it arrested after its search at Dogripora led to recovery of 1.680 kgs of grinded cannabis.

Near Kalsari Pattan three persons — Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Pethgam Wagoora; Tahir Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Ahmad of Warpora Tangmarg; and Nisar Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Rasool of Durhama Wagoora – were arrested and their bike seized after 90 grams of cannabis was recovered from their possession.

In Yaripora Kulgam, a vehicle (JK18D-4779) driven by Sajad Ahmad Khar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Khar of Kharpora, was seized after 900 grams of cannabis powder was recovered from it. Khar was also arrested.

At Guzriyal Reshigund Crossing (Kupwara), one Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, son of Lal Khan of Lone Harri Tangwari, was arrested after 20.09 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
