Srinagar: Police in north Kashmir’s Pattan on Wednesday claimed to have solved blind hit-and-run case and arrested a driver involved besides seizing the involved vehicle from Budgam.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) while sharing details with media persons said that on 15th November 2024, Police Post Palhallan received information about a hit-and-run incident involving an unidentified vehicle traveling from Baramulla towards Srinagar.

He said the vehicle hit a pedestrian, Nazir AhmadiSofi, son of Late Abdul Ahad Sofi, resident of Saderbal Palhallan, near Parsa’s Restaurant in Palhallan.

“Acting on the information, FIR No. 314/2024 under sections 281, 125A, and 106 BNS was registered at Police Station Pattan, and an investigation was initiated. Unfortunately, the injured pedestrian succumbed to his injuries after being shifted to the hospital,” he said.

He said that with meticulous tracking and technical assistance, the vehicle involved (JK04J-0917), was traced and seized on November 26, 2024.

The driver identified as Ahmad Parray, son of Abdul Rashid Parray, resident of Bun Zanigam, Budgam, was apprehended and subsequently arrested.

The vehicle bore visible hit marks and had been freshly painted white, indicating the concealment of the evidence, he said.
