DLSA Kupwara issues clarification on press release regarding rights of LGBQTs

KUPWARA: The office of Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara today issued a corrigendum cum clarification regarding a press note published on 23 November, 2024 in connection with the programme organized by it with regard to the rights of LGBQTs.

As per the clarification it has been given out that in the same press note, it has inadvertently been mentioned that the programme was held under the supervision of Shazia Tabassum, PDJ Kupwara whereas the fact of the matter is that the programme was held under the supervision and guidance of Moneer Ahmad, Sec. DLSA and the programme was held as per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority and J&K Legal Services Authority and the programme was held as per the guidelines laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in W.P (Civil) No. 1011/2022 titled “Supriya @ Supriya Chakraborthy vs Union of India.”

Further, it is hereby clarified that nothing which would hurt the sentiments of any community/faith was discussed in the said programme and the programme was strictly held as per the guidelines laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the aforementioned case and further it is hereby clarified that the programme was held as per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority and J&K Legal Services Authority.
