Congress celebrates 75th Samvidhan Divas across J&K

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday celebrated 75th Samvidhan Divas (Constitution Day) across Jammu and Kashmir and held seminars, functions and workers meetings in all the districts to mark the event while emphasizing the significance of upholding constitutional values.

Srinagar District Congress Committee held a function at MA Road Party Office to celebrate the Samvidhan Divas, which was presided over by District President Irfan Naqib, similar programmes were held in other districts to mark the Constitution Day.

Highlighting the significance of the adoption of the Constitution, Irfan Naqib said that the Congress Party shall continue to fight for safeguarding the Constitution as the Nation has witnessed systematic attempts during last ten years by the BJP-led Govt to dilute the foundation of the constitution and undermine its commitment to social justice, equality and democracy.

Congress Party will counter this trend and has decided to launch a 60-day Nationwide campaign to safeguard the constitution and emphasize the Party’s dedication to its principle from 26th November 2024 to 26 January 2025, Naqib said and lashed out at BJP for attempting to undermine the constitution. He expressed confidence that the BJP’s attempts and ambitions to harm the Indian Constitution shall be thwarted by Congress.

Similar functions were held in Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag districts in Kashmir province. DCC Presidents Zaffar Farooq Salati, Abdul Rashid Lone, Reyaz Manhas, Umer Jaan, Er. Muzaffar Dar, Sheikh Aijaz, Mohd Iqbal Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray and Javed Mir presided over the function that was held to celebrate the 75th Constitution Day. They said the Constitution infuses hope and confidence among all Indians irrespective of their caste or colour and ensures justice and equality.

MLA Bandipora Nizam Ud Din Bhat also participated in Bandipora and delivered a powerful keynote address emphasizing the importance of upholding the constitution. values such as socialism and federalism. He urged to protect the sanctity of the Constitution.

Prior to the Samvidhan Divas, JKPCC appointed District Coordinators for coordination and to oversee the observance of Constitution Day in all districts, they included Surinder Singh Channi, Abid Imtiyaz Bhat, Mohd Iqbal Mir, Dr. Audil Farooq Mir, Abdul Gani Khan, Abdul Rahim Rather, Nissar Ahmad Mundoo Farooq Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Bukhari.
