ANANTNAG: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today visited Anantnag and chaired a meeting to review the developmental activities and progress on implementation of various ongoing schemes across the district.
The meeting was attended by Chairman District Development Council, MY Gorsi; Members of Legislative Assembly from Anantnag district including, Peerzada Mohammad Syed; Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri; Abdul Majid Bhat; Altaf Ahmad Wani; Riyaz Ahmad Khan; Choudhary Zaffar Ahmad Khatana; District Development Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police and other senior officers of district administration.
Director School Education Kashmir, Director Health Services Kashmir, and heads of other departments were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Minister held detailed deliberations on the progress of various ongoing projects as well as comprehensive assessment of progress on implementation of various beneficiary oriented schemes.
Addressing the officers during the meeting, the Minister underlined that the present dispensation led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to address the issues and grievances of the public at the grass root level. “Our Government is for the people and we are determined to address their issues and problems”, Sakeena said.
She impressed upon the officers to promptly address public grievances and ensure people are facilitated at all levels.
The Minister stressed upon the district administration to involve elected representatives in project planning and implementation of schemes across the district.
She also called upon the officers that in anticipation of the upcoming winter season, Firewood supplies, snow clearance equipment, ration items, cooking gas and other essential supplies should be stored, especially in far-off areas.
The Minister, during the meeting also reviewed the working of other departments like Health, Higher Education, School Education, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings), Jal Shakti, Rural Development, KPDCL among others. She also reviewed progress of schemes like ICDS, Poshan Abhiyan, National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), Child Helpline Services, among others.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Fakhruddin Hamid, presented a detailed presentation informing the Minister about the progress of various developmental and infrastructural schemes as well.
Earlier, the Minister distributed hearing aids, wheelchairs and walking aids among beneficiaries of the Social Welfare Department.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today visited Shamsipora village of Anantnag and conducted a public grievance redressal camp to address the issue and problems of locals.
MLA Anantnag West, Abdul Majeed Larmi; Director School Education, Dr. Tasaduq Hussain Mir and other senior officers of various line departments were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the massive public gathering, Sakeena Itoo highlighted that the present government is holding regular public meetings in order to make the general public part of developmental process. She urged the public to come forward and participate in planning process of their respective areas, so that developmental projects are executed as per their local needs.
During the camp, Sakeena Itoo patiently listened to the grievances of the people on varied subjects like functionality of NTPHC, de-linking and upgradation of High School at Shamsipora, expansion and macadamisation of vital Shamsipora-Batengoo road, installation of flood lights in the local stadium, upgradation of water supply scheme, construction of flood protection on vulnerable spots as well as other issues of public importance.
While interacting with the public delegations and individuals on the occasion, the Minister assured them that their genuine concerns and issues will be addressed promptly.
