Islamia College organizes seminar on entrepreneurship awareness and skill development

Srinagar: In a notable academic initiative, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar, hosted a seminar and training session on entrepreneurship development in collaboration with the MSME Technology Development Centre, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India.

The event aimed to inspire and equip students with entrepreneurial skills while highlighting the benefits and challenges of entrepreneurship as a viable career path.

The program brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, experienced professionals, and academic leaders to explore strategies for identifying opportunities and crafting business plans. Speaking at the event’s inauguration, Principal Professor (Dr.) Tehmina Yosuf underscored the college’s legacy and commitment to academic excellence. She lauded the efforts of Convenor Professor Zahoor Ahmad Jath and the Incubation Cell team for organizing the event. Dr. Yosuf encouraged students to explore entrepreneurial ventures, emphasizing the college’s role in preparing students for the dynamic demands of today’s business environment.

Chief Guest Mir Altaf Ahmad, Project Director from the Ministry of MSME, highlighted the importance of fostering innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among youth. He shared insights into the qualities of successful entrepreneurs, steps to launch a business, and resources available through incubation centers.

Professor Zahoor Ahmad Jath, Convenor of the Incubation Cell, described the seminar as a vital step in cultivating entrepreneurial skills and promoting a culture of innovation among students.

A unique feature of the event was a hands-on training session on drones and other equipment, conducted by Syed Zeeshan Andrabi and Ajaz Hussain from MSME and DIC Srinagar, which engaged students in practical learning.

Participants enthusiastically joined an interactive Q&A session, seeking guidance on various aspects of entrepreneurship, including funding, marketing, and scalability.

Dr. Syed A. Untoo, Media Secretary of the college, reaffirmed Islamia College’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent through workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

The event concluded on a high note, with participants appreciating the initiative as a step forward in empowering students to become innovative entrepreneurs and contribute positively to society and the economy.
