JAMMU: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, FCS&CA, Transport, IT and S&T, Satish Sharma, inaugurated the 35th Senior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship at M A stadium, here today.
The championship has been organised by J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the aegis of Tennis Ball Cricket Federation of India (TBCFI), from 18th to 21st November 2024.
Director General YS&S, Rajindra Singh Tara, Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul along with other dignitaries were present at the inauguration ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that sports not only highlight talent but also foster a strong spirit of sportsmanship among the youth.
Welcoming all the players and the officials for the championship, the Minister hoped that they would enjoy their stay in Jammu and perform to their potential in the championship.
Satish Sharma appreciated the Sports Council for organizing several regional sports tournaments. He emphasised that sports activities are basic requirements for developing a strong mind and fit physique in the youth.
The Minister highlighted the importance of teamwork in sports and said, “Sports instil in us the value of working as a team. The more we cultivate teamwork, the greater our chances of success. Conversely, the absence of teamwork amplifies the risk of failure.”
Satish Sharma stressed that the present government is committed to providing the best quality infrastructure and modern equipment to the players to enhance their capabilities and potential.
The championship will feature a series of competitive matches among 35 teams competing vigorously for the top spot and the honour of being crowned the champions. The event promises to deliver exceptional talent, sportsmanship and nail-biting finishes.
