Srinagar: A late-night fire broke out in the Kralhar area of Baramulla, causing significant damage to a residential house beside the roof of a nearby health centre.
Fire tenders were dispatched to the scene and successfully brought the fire under control. However, residents voiced dissatisfaction with the fire department’s response time. “We tried calling the fire service on their landline but could not get through. We had to inform them in person before they arrived,” a local resident said.
The incident has prompted calls for more efficient communication systems within the Fire department. “Having mobile numbers readily accessible could ensure quicker responses in emergencies,” suggested another local.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
