Verinag: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader and AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Sunday directed the administration to identify and ensure timely resolution of public issues and developmental needs.

“The welfare and development of the people is paramount, so addressing these concerns should be a priority,” he emphasized, adding that residents in both regions have not seen a constructive approach toward their well-being from the BJP-led government at the Center.

Mir criticized the government for making lofty promises about employment generation, project completion, and infrastructure development — particularly during the Back to Village programs and other initiatives — yet failing to deliver results, leaving both regions of J&K equally neglected in essential areas.

Addressing an enthusiastic gathering of party delegates in Omoh, Verinag, South Kashmir, Mir urged them to strengthen their efforts to ensure public grievances are addressed and to promote party policies and programs at the grassroots level.

He remarked that J&K has faced a challenging situation in the absence of a popular government, causing immense hardship for the people. “Now that an elected government is in place, public expectations for swift justice and relief are high. The administration must act promptly and reach out to people to provide necessary support,” Mir asserted.

He reiterated that the development of ordinary citizens is a priority and that there should be no compromise on this front. “The Congress Party is committed to advocating for the public’s well-being and defending their rights, which have been repeatedly undermined by the BJP government at the Center,” he added.

Mir also called on the Central Government to fully support the J&K administration, enabling it to revive the region’s development process. He stressed the urgent need to restore J&K’s statehood, as repeatedly promised by the Prime Minister and Home Minister on the floor of Parliament.
