Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Kulgam and recovered psychotropic, contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.
He said during the raid on the residence of one Mohammad Rafiq Shah, son of Mohammad Shafi Shah at Rakh Harran, 141 bottles of codeine-like psychotropic substance were recovered, following which he was arrested.
At Khudwani Byepass in Kulgam, police intercepted a truck (JK03F-4926) and recovered 4 Kgs of poppy straw-like substance from it. The driver of the truck, Jan Mohammad Mandoo, son of Ghulam Rasool Mandoo of Redwani Payeen, was arrested and truck seized.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations.
