Capacity Building Programme on GST for tax officers concludes

JAMMU: The two-day Capacity Building Programme for Tax Officers to strengthen human resources of the State Taxes Department (STD) for implementation of Goods and Service Tax (GST) concluded on Tuesday at Excise and Taxation Training Institution, Nagrota here.

The workshop is being organised by the State Taxes Department (STD), J&K in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

Additional Commissioner of Administration & Enforcement Jammu, Namrita Dogra, chaired the valedictory session.

All Deputy Commissioners of the Tax department, the Assistant Commissioner and State Tax Officers of the Jammu division participated in the workshop.

Resource persons CA Ajay Sharma and CA Tarun Arora from ICAI spoke in detail about various GST laws, demands, recovery, and appeals. The second session was held on the E-way Bill and Enforcement process, detention, seizure & release of goods and conveyances in transit.

Speaking on the occasion, Namrita Dogra said that the Capacity Building Programme has been initiated under the guidance of the Commissioner of State Taxes Department, P K Bhat.

She said that this strategic move not only enhances the productivity of tax officers of STD but also promotes significant partnerships between the ICAI community for larger economic growth of the nation. She added that the training module will continue tomorrow (October 15) and resource persons from ICAI will cover topics on demand, recovery, appeals, E-way Billand Enforcement process.
