The rally was flagged off on October 9th at Nehru Park in Srinagar, with riders traveling through the region’s rugged terrain to highlight the crucial role of standards in promoting sustainability. The initiative also underscores organizational transparency, with a focus on the importance of maintaining ethical business practices.

Khyber Cement’s involvement marks the company’s continued commitment to contributing to the welfare of Kashmir beyond its business operations. Speaking at the event, Mr. Umar Tramboo, Director of Corporate & Strategy at Khyber Cement, emphasized the significance of the rally: “For us at Khyber Cement, sustainability extends beyond corporate responsibility—it represents our dedication to safeguarding the future for generations to come. Our partnership with BIS for this rally is part of our ongoing efforts to drive positive change, from supporting environmental causes to ensuring transparency in all our business practices.”

Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Head of Commercials, Legal & Regulatory Affairs at Khyber Cement, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We proudly join hands with BIS to celebrate World Standards Day 2024, reinforcing our commitment to quality and excellence in construction. As sponsors of the bike rally, we stand united in promoting industry standards for a safer and stronger tomorrow.”

Sneh Lata, Deputy Director General North of BIS, praised the initiative, stating, “This bike rally to Siachen Base Camp symbolizes our mission to reach new horizons. By upholding standards, we drive innovation and build trust, ensuring our products and services meet the highest benchmarks. I extend my best wishes to the team for a successful and fulfilling journey.”

Khyber Cement has long been committed to aligning its business practices with environmental responsibility and community development. This collaboration with BIS further reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to foster positive change in Jammu & Kashmir, consistent with its ‘Dil Se Banao’ philosophy.

As the riders continue their journey to the Siachen Base Camp, the rally stands as a powerful reminder of the impact businesses can have when they align with global sustainability goals.
