Kulgam: As counting continues in the Kulgam district, early trends show strong leads for major candidates across the three key assembly constituencies of Kulgam, Devsar, and D. H. Pora.

In D. H. Pora, National Conference (NC) leader Sakina Itoo is holding a significant lead. With a total of 2,880 votes so far, Sakina is ahead by 1,767 votes over her nearest competitor, Gulzar Ahmad Dar, who has received 1,113 votes.

In the Kulgam constituency, veteran CPI(M) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami is maintaining a lead of 743 votes. Tarigami has garnered 3,856 votes, while his closest challenger, Sayar Ahmad Reshi, is trailing with 3,113 votes. The battle for this constituency is closely watched, with Tarigami aiming for another term after his strong performance in previous elections.

In Devsar, NC’s Peerzada Feroz Ahmad is leading with 1,438 votes, giving him a 456-vote advantage over Mohammad Sartaj Madni of the PDP, who has so far received 982 votes.
