District Admin Kupwara refutes allegations of ‘cash distribution among voters’

KUPWARA: In light of recent posts being circulated on social media by various quarters alleging unethical conduct/use of money power in the Kupwara Assembly segment, the District Administration Kupwara today strongly refuted the allegations terming them unfounded.

In an official statement issued here, the District Administration asserted that no credible evidence has been presented to substantiate these allegations as such the accusations are devoid of any merit. It is imperative that all claims are grounded on facts to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

Furthermore, the District Administration is committed to ensuring free and fair elections as robust monitoring protocols and machinery are in place to oversee electoral activities and address any complaints that arise, ranging from the establishment of Static Surveillance teams (SST) Nakas across the arterial routes of District, Flying Squads, Video Viewing Teams, Video Surveillance Teams strategically spread across the District, apart from the robust intelligence gathering.

The teams and enforcement agencies have so far, inter-alia, made a good quantum of seizures from cash, contraband drugs, freebies, liquor. Additionally, while acting upon various reports of MCC violations, this office has so far issued 31 show cause notices, along with attachment of seven employees. All are therefore encouraged to engage with us constructively and report any observed irregularities on ‘cVIGIL or helpline-1950’ with specific and credible evidence.

The District Administration remains dedicated to upholding democratic values and ensuring that all stakeholders can participate freely and fairly and collaborate in promoting a positive electoral environment for greater and stronger democracy.

Lastly, the people of District Kupwara are appealed to not believe or pay heed to such rumors and accusations undermining the electoral processes and have full faith on the institutions upholding the democratic values.
