Srinagar: In a significant political development, three-time MLA Karnah, Kafeel-ul-Rehman on Friday threw his weight behind Peoples Conference candidate Dr. Naseer Ahmad Awan.

Addressing a news conference, Kafeel-ul-Rehman, who has represented Karnah assembly segment thrice in assembly of the erstwhile state of J&K, said that he has decided to support Dr. Naseer Ahmad, a prominent medico of Kashmir Valley.

The former legislator said that he has decided to support Dr. Naseer due to his integrity, honesty and competence.

Kafeel-ul- Rehman’s support to PC candidate is the biggest setback to National Conference in north Kashmir and also to Rashid Sheikh aka Engineer Rashid, who is eying all Kupwara district seats.

With this development, PC’s prospects have bolstered in the segment due to its traditional vote bank and goodwill for Dr. Naseer.

Meanwhile, PC president Sajad Gani Lone has expressed gratitude to the former MLA Karnah for supporting the party candidate.

“Thanks to Kafeel Ul Rehman Sahib for supporting @JKPCofficial candidate Dr Naseer Awan. I extend my thanks on behalf of my party,” Lone tweeted.
