Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Sunday.
He said at Hardu Suresh, Khag, police intercepted and later arrested three persons — Rayees Ahmed Khan, son of Mohammad Shaban Khan; Irfan Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar; and Firdous Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Hardu Suresh Khag – after three kilograms of poppy straw and 55 grams of cannabis were recovered from their possession.
In Sopore, at Janwara Crossing, one Sageer Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir of Janwara was arrested after 113 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered for investigation, police said.
