Kulgam: While addressing a series of election rallies in Kulgam area, CPI(M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami, on Wednesday said that the people of Kashmir have rightfully rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as the party failed to connect with the people of the erstwhile state and has shown disregard for the dignity and honour of the people of J&K.

Tarigami continued his election campaign in the Kulgam constituency on Wednesday, addressing rallies and roadshows at Laroo, Awagam, Zazripora, Poniwah, Balsoo, Bugam, and Ramgard.

He said that the world is beautiful because of the sweat of farmers, not the elites, and that the CPI(M) has never engaged in the business of politics, but has always upheld the principles of basic rights for the people.

“J&K has been going through a very difficult phase ever since this ruling dispensation came to power. This government has many faces and the soil of Kashmir has rightfully rejected the seeds of BJP. This government didn’t own the people of Kashmir, otherwise, there wouldn’t have been such disrespect to our dignity, honour, and the status of J&K,” Tarigami said.

He said that the qualified youth of J&K, whose parents hope for their wards to secure dignified livelihoods, hardly get any employment opportunities under this ruling dispensation.

“No jobs, but PSA; no jobs, but new rules that do not favour rightful opportunities for youth. And I’m not just speaking about these issues here in Kulgam, but wherever I’ve had the chance, tried my best to highlight the suffering of the people of this erstwhile state at various platforms across the country,” he said.

Tarigami reiterated his promise to voice the concerns of the people of Kulgam and to advocate for their issues to the best of his ability both inside and outside the assembly.

Among others, senior leaders of the party Mohamad Afzal Parry, Ghulam Mohiudin Lone, Zahoor Ahmad Rather and Mohamad Abass Rather addressed the rallies.
